Anchor recommendation please

If it won't be used on the open ocean a box anchor is one of best all around anchors, although expensive. No chain needed and less rope onboard. Stores flat, and there is a galvanized cost effective solution (At least here in the USA). This is quickly becoming the preferred anchor for most inboards used on rivers and lakes. Especially since they can be set on a short leash, so to speak.

Says the guy with a Danforth anchor, 15ft of chain, and 320 ft of 3/8" line for his SIB.

Im using 15 mt of rope and 3m of chain for the Med/Rivers, but have a 30m rope and 10m of chain for the sea/lake garda.

Im using a folding anchor too

Cheers guys, these forums are just the best. My Taid was born on Anglesey and worked his way up to from the bottom to become a Master Mariner, Captaining many ships through the war years, but I lost him when I was just a boy. Now I'm 44 and making pilgramages back to Anglesey with my small SIB; these basic questions Iare the sort of thing 'd love to have asked him, and I'm sure he would have enjoyed answering : ) Thanks again.

You will need more than 30 m for lake Garda its over 1000 m deep up the middle

Yeah, but are you going to be anchoring in the middle? The Pacific Ocean (where I usually run) gets pretty deep, but I doubt I'll need to drop the hook out there...
