There are basically two methods of applying epoxy powder coating. The most common is electrostatic spray coat. Not too bad if prep. is one properly. The best, and most expensive is dip powder coat. Component is dip etched, rinsed, put in an oven to heat up, dipped into agitated bath of epoxy powder and then baked. Hope my memory is correct. Hard anodising is a poor choice for a marine environment or a welded item, but looks pretty for a while.

Every aluminium mast on a yacht is anodised so i don't see that problem.
