Advice on outboard

Hi all, new member here from Ireland looking for a bit of advice! I had a rib a few years ago and replaced it with a fast fisher as I wanted more deck space, it was a big mistake! I use the boat on the west coast and I never had the confidence going out in a decent swell as I used to have in the rib, the fast fisher met it's maker one day when I found out somebody had moved it from it's mooring and I discovered it capsized! Anyway, I am going to get another 6-7m rib, my budget isn't massive but I have spotted a 6m cobra which is in budget, my only issue is that it is fitted with a 150hp force outboard. I have never heard of them and I can't seem to find any info online. I have a yamaha 100 4 stroke from my old boat that I could fit but would prefer a bit more than 100hp.
Any advice?!

The force is very simple to work on but that's about it and you will be working on it frequently!!!
Why not fit the 100 and wait until a nice 150 or 200 comes up?

If you're not happy with the 150hp and still have the 100hp available, then why don't you buy the Cobra with the 150 then sell the 150 and the 100 - that should get you a pretty decent 150-250hp outboard!

I am worried about the reliability of the force outboard. We head out in some pretty isolated places, that's why I had sold my old rib, there wasn't enough space for an aux engine. I am a mechanic by trade so I'm not afraid of working on engines but I bring young kids out with me so I always got a bit nervous about no back up engine! Also the fact I'm a mechanic meant I don't want to get a boat & then have to fork out for another engine, the wife likes having a boat but we done have a lot of extra cash to buy engines! I have been a die hard yamaha fan since I was 12

That was one of the best days of my working life when the factory told us that there would be no more force OBMs made.

Had a 90hp force on our old bow rider. Didn't want it at first but after owning it for 12 years and other than spark plugs a starter motor and impellers it has been the most reliable engine we have ever had in our family and never once didn't start or let us down
