What are peoples thoughts on aluminium hulls?
Theres a big weight saving but is that always a good thing for stability and handling etc?
Im guessing at the size im after and my requirements its not really going to be an issue either way...

Never owned one, but seem well liked like by those that have.

Not sure if being kept in a marina has any additional considerations.

The classic 380 is very reasonable brand new , the used market is pretty dead at the moment for what I'm after.

Not a big fan personally. I’ve been in a few & they feel to be a harsh ride to me. It also be worried about corrosion between the hull & tubes. The upside is that you can run them up a beach without worrying about the gelcoat. My mate has an AB as a yacht tender & is serves the purpose well.

Time of year depresses the prices, so market dries up, that said when sun comes out everyone thinks their boat is worth a fortune..... and floods the market with unrealistically priced stuff..... bargains can be had and are out there it’s just being in a position to buy when you see one........

Windsurfer - keep your eyes peeled for a nice 4m Avon Searider. There are some good ones for little money out there. Without doubt the most fun RIB I’ve had....

Thanks for your comment on the hi fields and I've be trying to contact the seller of this 2013 AB 3.6m Rib with 40hp Yamaha Four Stroke all weekend via facebook and there gumtree ad , it would be nice even if they just sent a reply saying sold...

It looked a great package in very good condition with trailer and accessories.

Ive noticed theres a lot of love for the Avon Searider, what actual makes them so desirable/fun?
I didnt really want to buy anything to old as I'm concerned about it falling apart!

New/newer doesn’t necessarily mean it’s in better condition

Yes i do agree with that , i had a reply from the guy selling one of these and all sounds good so will go and have a look this week.

I just sold a 1977 SR4 that was still in incredibly clean and tidy condition with the original tubes and original upholstery! Not bad for 42 years old. One of the many reasons people love them - incredibly well built, they just go on and on. Also incredibly seaworthy for the size. Newer ones come up occasionally, and you can still buy them new (but now sold with a MilPro badge on not Avon).

Turns out i can fit a larger rib than i thought on the jet ski doc! It was well worth going over with a tape measure . My search continues up to 4.5m long now !

Check the weight capacity in terms of bouyancy but should be ok up to 350kgs although weight distribution on robe is different (more at the stern than a ski) but up to 4.5 should open up a number of possible options especially about on some newer boats brig and ribeye do a 4.5m I think with a leisure layout falcon 450

Worth putting the request out to local brokerages and dealers should get something decent with console for that budget there was a tornado near me recently but was a 5m

I think over priced for age, if it were younger with 4 banger then probably, but might suit following some negotiating
