Advice 6m - 7m offshore rib

I have been looking on the second hand market at the Delta & Tornado ribs between 6m and 7m and I was surprised at the small size of twin outboards they will take.

Can anyone recommend a make of rib with a decent offshore style hull and raised bow but one that will take larger twin outboards and a faster hull design?

I was hoping for at least twin 130 - 2 strokes

Any thoughts or advice welcome,

Well the first brand that comes to mind is Halamtic and their Arctic range. Brand new I'd suggest getting somebody else to pay for it but second hand you can get some good examples for 10 grand hull only.

The other alternatives would be Delta and MST.

They did look a little bit "well 'ard" it had to be said!!

Some of them had Police on the back of their jackets but had strong America accents ........ strange that!

The United States of America = World Police (including the Eastern Solent!)

Halmatic will do it, I've got a 22 with twin 115's, can't see why you couldn't put something bigger on. Tried to upload a photo but it won't let me!!

I driven that Police rib! I am also one of the boat handlers for the new Avon & Somerset Boat

Its common for the coxswains to be marine section or divers (like me) and the firearms guys to have crew training.

I will have a look at Halmatic - has anyone any experience with

Well an XS rib is not going to last anywhere near as long as the other boats mentioned so far.

I'm not doing XS Ribs down but they are built to considerably different a budget compare to the suggestions so far.

The ribcraft 6.8 will take 225hp so I guess 90hp twins? But if the boat is lighter then something like a Halmatic the top speed might not be too bad?

Hi Mike,

I've kept out of the more serious side of this discussion so far

However, it looks like there are very few hulls in that range that will take 130hp twins. It may be that you are hunting for a boat that doesn't exist. 6-7m, good offshore hull, twin 130's, cheapish.
An alternative might be to look at the Redbay Suzuki demo boat., Redbay 650, twin Suzi-Wong 90's (great economy) - 40kts. Standard fuel tank is 180L - good range too. They fit Ermintrude etecs as an alternative.
Their 7.5/750 will take twin 115 four strokes - but the hull will only give mid/high 30s.

Saw this boat at Ribex a couple of years back, I think its a Tornado Super 7metre with twin 225 Opti's. It seemed to sit well in the water considering the weight hanging off the transom. It must be a handfull flat out though!

ok ok I know it is not small at 7m but that RIB looks tiny with them two big black lumps on the back. looks like it is used for family fun. bet the mum dose not alow WOT

Mike,

We used to have several 8.4m seariders with twin 225 Yamaha's on the back and they were exceptional.

Only problem is they need a truck to move them around and they were a bit of a wet ride.

The Avon website used to have a picture of one of boats on it.
