Advance tide times

Hey

Since having my boat i've been checking tide times on the day when they're uploaded to the MDL site. I'm looking to go out saturday but could really do with knowing the tides in advance!

Where abouts can I find these on the net?

Thanks

UKHO tide times for next 7 days are on the bbc site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/tides/

or you will get longer range stuff here: http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/tidalp.html

I have used all of those sites , but for forward planning we have little booklets of local tide tables available in the chandlerys here. They're about 50p and last the whole year. I presume you can get them in the south too.

Yes - most local chandlers have them and they're about 50p less than yours

Southampton tide tables available from Aladdins Cave (and other) Chandlers.

£1.80 or £2.00 if I remember though - But we do get more high tides than in the North!

I am constantly amazed that no-one seems to own a Reeds Almanac.

In 10 hours, only one smarty-pants out of a possible 6079!

The point is, there are frequent threads asking "what's the tide times", "Is there petrol..." and many more which would be answered if the person had purchased an almanac.

Reeds is a great publication, it answers so many questions, and is £30 well spent. I photocopy sections from mine and keep them on the boat.

Another tip is the RYA diary... it has tide tables and tidal differences for Dover, Harwich, Plymouth and Portsmouth for the whole year for about £6

That's 'cos the weight of it would knock a couple of knots off the top speed.

Belfield tide plotter disc does all uk and you can have europe too if you want, for £10 or so each year. Loaded on the pc its easy to have a look at when you are out of range of internet etc and will give tide tables or a graph so you can see at a glance how much water at whatever time you are likely to arrive at the next destination, wherever that might be.

Dont most of our highly expensive plotters have this data available ? OK you dont always have it to hand at home ( unless you remove it from the boat / keep you boat in the house ! )
