A tad overpowered mr thinks even for a ribnetter/ ribnutter

This rig is just mad. it is the same boat as mine and I think that 60 hp is plenty. the max rated outboard is 75 hp at 171kgs

I believe there is actually some truth in that. The RNLI have used at least two sub 5m Valiants. One was used as a sea safety demo boat, the other as an ILB by the South Broads RNLI station as the Broads authority wanted them to use something with less wash than a D class. Got some piccies somewhere of it somewhere.

While we are on the subject of engine ratings, if a rib is rated say fo a max 70hp and you fit a larger hp engine would it affect your insurance. My understanding is that it would .

If you have an accident then its the first thing they check and the first observation in the report?

Your insurance wont cover it even though you may get insurance without many questions. You haven't mentioned the the force on the transome either.

I think its great to have fun, but you have to think what if.....

The best thing for that rib is to buy it, take the engine off and fit the correct hp one and then sell it.

Then buy yourself a ex mod SR5.4 and build a nice safe boat.

(I'll get me tin hat)

This is what I like about RIBnet - one man can make an "error of judgement" and the rest of us don't have to!

Now big muzs statement has given me an idea to stop people standing in front of my forge and setting them selfs on fire or them getting an unexpected hair and eyebrow cut.

Here in holland we have a guy who has an eurovynil wrc450 and he putted a 140HP yammi on the stern. And still lives, at RIBsport.nl - Forum voor RIBbers uit Nederland en België - Waar RIBbers elkaar ontmoeten you can find him. I'll try to post a pic later.
