A Grand day out from Portland

Just had a cracking day out from Castletown, headed round the Bill to Chesil Beach, then back round and across to Weymouth Harbour for fish and chips. Finished off with a little run over to Bowleaze cove before heading home.

Over 40 miles in all, used about half a tank of fuel.

First time round the Bill- the Portland Race was a little turbulent but nothing to worry about. The rest of the day was all smooth/slight.

I recorded the trip on my Garmin:

Recommended for a good day out when conditions are calm!

RIBase
Thats a good use for the Garmin - speed, map with satellite overlay - not sure if you need elevation recorded though

(unless the waves were very big)

Yes mrs P was poorly. I was quite pleased I managed to recover the boat single handed!

You would of gone past the campsite we stayed at..!

I'm getting very jealous of people squeezing in end of season boating trips.

Lockieboi was out in the Solent today, said it was flat calm, I'm about 15mins from the coast and can't seem to find the time.!

Not giving up hope yet.......

Good trip PP.....I haven't got any excuse now.

What's the weather doing next weekend....?

Nice one Phil. Looks great. Well done for braving the dreaded Portland Bill race as well.

I was also out today, but on the Solent. Launched from Camber dock, then a great blast up to the needles. Anchored in Alum Bay for lunch, then into Cowes for a look around at the boats, and back to Camber. V little wind so taps could be opened ....... :-)
