A clean boat is a happy boat

Well today after failing to get the engine going and running the battery flat I decided I might as well address the tubes which I must admit need some love!

I spent a good hour or two going over the top of the tubes cleaning them and am now very happy with the results.

Here's a before and after picture!

I used this stuff from the "Rib Shop" called "rib revive" and "rib conditioner".
Worked pretty well!

Did you use the spray first then let it dry?
Thank you

Just don't use it where people sit/step on the tubes. Stuff is slicker than snot.

It might make the Mrs listen to me when I keep telling her to stand on the wear patches only!

Cheers

Not found it over slippy myself...although my RIB does have plenty of fitted wear patches

My Etec was in for a service earlier this week, the tubes had been freshly Amoral'd, I more often use Polymarine, but had run out. When I went to collect, the tech said " WTF have you got on those tubes?!,"
In his overalls, he couldn't stay on the things.

As an aside to the local fellas, Robbin' Curnow (Penryn) is no longer an Evinrude agent (Phew), which meant a 60m round trip to OSM Lostwithiel.

Very happy with OSM from start to finish. I had a intermittent signal issue to the Icommands, their tech really went the extra mile to sort it. Fractured data cable.

I'm a convert, armaroll from now on, what a difference in appearance and it is much easier to use than polymarine or toob shine. wipe on and walk away, what a shine, UV protected and 4 quid a bottle from halfords.

I did avoid doing the wear patches and stuck with toob shine for those just incase, you can see and feel the difference though. It is slick compared to the "proper" stuff so I would recommend caution with it until I know what it is like to step on in use.

Armorall will ruin your tube material.

Do not use it.

Ps : it voids the warranty on Zodiac/Avon products.

Bold statement, got any experience?

There are some stories on Google about it but only that, stories telling others not to use it but I haven't found a single one with an issue?

Most say it will make putting a patch on harder, can't see it. You should be sanding it down and wiping it clean with some solvents anyway, should remove anything that.

However, if someone has a problem with it I'm all ears.

I have already ordered 3m vinyl and hypalon protector anyway for the wear patches so no biggy to clean it off with RIB revive and a magic sponge if need be.

Prolonged use on Hypalon/CSM drives through the pores in to the base fabric layer. No amount of toluene will remove it. I've had to scrap boats before because of it. PVC, it isn't as big of an issue since PVC is non-porous.

I theorize that it has a negative interaction with chloroprene & vinyl adhesives as well, but I have not confirmed that with laboratory testing.
