'98 Avon 560?

Greetings! Hope you don't mind my seeking a little feedback on a RIB I'm contemplating purchasing. I've spent a lot of time here the past several days researching Avon boats, mainly the 560 and larger adventure series to which I think this boat belongs. I haven't had a chance to view the hull and most likely couldn't before I obligate myself to purchase. I've emailed the seller back and forth several times. He states above average cond. for the boat with no tube patches or evidence of hull repair. This would be my first RIB and first larger powerboat. I presently run a Terhi 6020 w/ 25hp Suzuki 4s. I'd probably look to put a 90-100hp 4s on this one. I'm thinking this one may go for the equivalent of 2500-3000gbp. It looks like it may have been used commercially at one time. Does the orange hull signify anything or was that standard? I'd like to use this one for diving and offshore runs to ><10nm. Any feedback would be appreciated especially pertaining to this make/model.

Pics are a bit small to make out much - do you have any larger ones?

Yea, I thought that was odd myself. Disregarding that floater, what do you think of the hull? Any experience with Avons of this vintage?

Pop--thanks for your reply. No, that's the thing, it's an auction with the hull being located 5-600 miles away. I may be able to snatch it for 2100gbp which has me thinking it may be worth a shot 'sight unseen' stupidity? The seller does have a good reputation and has stated 'above avg' used condition w/ no patch work evident.

i think for that money its good , can he get you any clear pics of the hull and tubes where the tape is and make sure its not all scraped and needing repair. the rib looks basic the cables on on deck ect but do you care for the money . are you planning on changing the console? does it come with the trailer?

A lot depends on the auction's terms and conditions. If the seller has stated that it is in good condition you should have some redress if it isn't as described.

Looking at the pics - and seeing how rare RIBs are in the USA it looks like a good buy.
