Looks very much like the one in the Daily Mail last week. There was a photo of such rib next to the photo of the super tanker which got hijacked by the pirates

If there was a drive-thru McDonalds on water this would be moored outside.

They actually had one engine left over and decided on a different approach - going for a RIB with better power to weight ratio.

Was wondering why this rib needs 8 headaches/costly engines on transom, won't 4 be sufficient ? Or the constructor & owner are nuts wanting to break the wirdowness Guiness World of Records ? Would preffer the second option sibbing on top of a 250 engine cowl !!

Happy Boating

Loco - this boat was built specifically to carry a very large payload very quickly... has to be faster and more manouverable than any boat the drug enforcement agencies might be using...

I've heard of ballast up front - but this is ridiculous!

SAN DIEGO - MAY 14, 2005 - Forward storage area, on a 21-foot powerboat, where two men attempted to smuggle more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana. Officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and U.S. Coast Guard apprehended the men. More than 70 wrapped packages of marijuana were found in the boat's forward cabin and under the stern seats. I heard they put loads of engines on to make it harder for the navy to shoot all the engines to bring it to a stop.

Loco - here are some press reports...

http://www.ybw.com/auto/newsdesk/200...53mbynews.html
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/6275699.stm
http://www.snopes.com/photos/boats/drugrunner.asp
http://forums.hotribs.com/showthread.php?t=564
http://www.bostonstandard.co.uk/news...-of.3930455.jp

I'm not sure why paul was being so defensive of them - perhaps he is worried HMRC might start working their way up the supply chain to people who supply tubes for ribs that get used for drug running - or perhaps he just wanted to make the point that the manufacturers have never actually been convicted of making boats specifically for drug running.
