Round by the bridges the tidal flow gets pretty fierce. Local knowledge is a must at low waters if you venture outside "the shoots".
Have heard of a couple of boats running aground and then being capsized as the tide turns.
I think that SARA and Portishead lifeboat are kept pretty busy.
Cheers Mike for giving us a mention, Local knowledge is a definate must, not just for the shoots, but all around the area, try going into the mouth of the avon on low water....watch that sand bank
