6m Rib with Twin Engine Package?

Hello,
I am new to this site as one of my friends suggested it.

My question to rib builders:

How much would you quote for a 6m Rib, with following Specs:

A. Twin Engine (with Max HP capability of the rib) - please Exclude Evinrude E-Tec
B. Only Jockey Seat Double
C. A Frame
D. Anti Slip Flooring
E. Flexible on Colour
F. Steering Wheel
G. Warranty (Include how many years and the items covered)

The quote shall exclude VHF Radio, other electronics, Delivery, etc.. No Trailer is required.

Estimated Delivery Date of the rib?

I doubt you'll get too many responses from the major rib builders on here - you might be better off contacting them direct. A few of them put in an appearance occasionally but they aren't really regulars AFAIK.

Dear BogMonster,
Thanks.

I was hoping to save time contacting them one by one!

I have recently sold my 30ft motor cruiser and thinking of buying a rib. Humber has got some good options but still not convinced that they are the leading manufacturer in the market...

Hi,
Welcome to Ribnet.

If you have not owned a rib before, stay away from Chinese Ribs, which look very nice, but are really unreliable and in fact dangerous! There are some posts here...

In my opinion, go for Humber, Brig, Ribeye / Ribtec, or Delta.

You can google them and find their contact details, getting a quote from their local distributers should not take you more than 10min!

You overlooked a few key players in the UK market too.

Most of them actually

OP, I'd suggest that you would do better to make a shortlist of suppliers, call them to discuss, then email over the spec sheet and see what happens.

Why would you generalise all Chinese ribs like that?? Have you any personal experience with them or are you just going on second hand information? I'm not a dealer or manufacturer nor am I promoting any ribs here, but i will stand over my own purchase after doing a lot of research and it's a tried and tested CE rated boat!!

Back to the original question and based on the three quotes I had for a 5.8 with a single (Osprey, Humber and Ribcraft), I doubt you'd have much change from about £30k for something with twins on it, or if you did you'd want to know why.

don't confuse a CE plate with a quality mark of any sort. Just a current legal neccesity to sell recreational craft within the EU and which may well be self certified and is a mark of conformity to minimum standards.

Delta were not CE marking boats at one time I believe as they were not selling into the recreational market.

When I was shopping around for BP, Delta quoted me over £25k for a bare hull, no engines, A frame, fuel tanks, console etc.

Well, any boat builder can make a bad/good rib, the question is that what's available on the market today?

One example is here:

http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/spider-c...oat-38916.html

The original poster is after a rib capable of taking twin engine. Personally speaking I would just go for a decent rib with good reliable single outboard. But how many chinese brands do you know which have got twin package?!

When I was going to buy a rib, I found a chinese company's details on Alibaba website. They quoted me 2500 for a 5.5m rib plus $1000 for delivery. The guy even suggested to order two as the container is big enough!

Look at here: you see alot of them:

China Rigid Inflatable Boats, China Rigid Inflatable Boats Manufacturers, China Rigid Inflatable Boats Suppliers and Companies on Alibaba.com

I decided not to, as was not really looking forward to dealing with HMRC etc. but saw those ribs later on in the UK with different names! each named differently...

What might be a better idea, is stating an approximate budget, and then people could point you in the direction if suitable manufacturers.

I love my twin engine setup, just wish it wasnt so expensive to run.
