60 knot winds & trimarans don't mix....

Glad they are all safe. I like the typical British understatement: an RAF spokesman said it was "quite an operation"

I bet it was mate

I was hit by 50+knts of wind which peaked at 64 knts for 3 days in pretty much the same area in Oct a couple of years ago. We were bringing a 70ft steel ketch from Gib back to Falmouth. Ended up running for Lisbon. It took 4 months to put her back together again in order to get her here. Hairy stuff, but good fun. Racing a multihull is a whole different kettle of fishies!

I have sailed on of these things across the alantic, twice........ great boats to go....

I remember running with a storm, with a 40knot wind, gusting to 60, it was for about 20hrs ....not fun. the alarm for the wind speed sounded for about 2hrs, and it was set to the max of 60knots!!!!! ....... we all thought that it would be curtians for us ... we nearly capsized once , it was close ...but it came back down

they are better then drugs, fast cars and ribs rolled into one
