gotchiguy: It sounds like you're living in a dream world.
Trying to 'buy' a RIB which wasn't advertised for sale, then criticising the 'seller' for not wishing to proceed with the 'sale'. Editing your posts, to avoid replying to reasonable questions. Next we hear, you've arranged to view/sea-trial/buy a 'better' RIB, the details of which you're reluctant to share. It sounds a bit like this mythical Osprey that you oh so nearly 'bought' Good luck.

Ummm, . The seller stated the the price was 'non-negotiable', perhaps he felt that he was going to go to the lengths of a sea-trial and was still going to get hit on the price. Chucking caveats in such as 'service' and 'cover alterations' are all very well, but these small considerations cost £100's of pounds. If the boat was well priced to begin with and one of the most sought after models, perhaps you were trying to squeeze him a little too hard.

I know exactly what you mean. I simply stated some of the things that I would like to be done to it. I understand exactly how he may have felt if he thought that I was going to try to haggle hard on price after he had spend the £100+ on trailering the boat down to the solent plus fuel etc etc. Looking back over what I wrote I see how insensitive i was and I think I was far too negative about the seller. If I had known then what I know now (I have done a lot of research into others makes and new boats etc) I would probably have gone straight in at the asking price.

But thats in the past now.

We must move on.

Gotchi, If I were you, I'd drop the secret squirrel sh*t and listen to the advice you're being given from guy's who know what they're talking about. That way you might end up with the right boat. You lost one of the best boats currently on the market by coming the 'smart arse'.

Well, today I placed a final deposit towards my new boat... I've looked over many of these "advice" threads, and very few of the OPs ever conclude it with what they decided on.

Looking back now on the quote above, it is so obvious how things get inflated!

My original budget has been increased by 50% and its not a 175hp 6.5m, but a 250HO 7metre!!

A good spec. Roy is a little anti A frames, I think the boat would benefit aestthetically for having one. What top speed is it achieving with the HO and which prop is it running?

I agree about the a frame, and this is a seperate point that I will seek advise about in the next couple of days re nav lights etc. Its spinning a 22" Viper possible 15 1/2dia but im not sure about the dia. In the previous post where I said I was putting an offer in, it was on a solent 6.5 with a 200ho (he wanted too much, and it fe;ll thru) and that had a 4 blade rebel and that acheived 65knots!!

In the SB&R article it quotes 57mph@5.2krevs but it now revs to 5.8k so i dont know the speed now! Do you think it would benefit from a 4 blade? I know it wouldn't increase WOT but would it benefit economy! It burns 100l+ flat out

The best I've had out of mine is 49.1knts running a 4 blade. The Solent is considerably lighter than a Vipermax.

Well with 25hp extra, I should be able to make 52/3

? Do you think it would benefit from a 4 blader?

Quite a list of things that I want fixed/added/done etc. so I hope maybe complete b4 ~20th december (Have to find a cheap date to stick it on the ferry)

I think Roy was getting around 50 knots out of it however I know he tried a couple of different props. If you fit a 4 blade prop you will probably losse some top end speed but gain holeshot, I would stick with the Viper it is the best all rounder IMO.

The Ideal RPM for this motor at WOT is 5600 so you are probably pretty close to ideal propping, You could try a 23" pitch viper or perhaps a Raker if you wanted to wring out every last knot.

Be careful with those trim tabs you could have the first Osprey Submarine if you get carried away

Strange, when looking at the thread it says "try a 22" Viper" but when it comes up in the reply page when I quote it says 23"? I assume you mean 23 'cos its already got a 22! I imagine I'll leave it as it is though.
