I think that my intention was always to go for the XL transom!

Vis a vis fishing, I may hoik a line once a year, but I won't let this impact on my choice. I think I am set with Osprey, but thank you for informing me that they are a Belgian outfit, I will ask Roy if purchasing direct from hq would reduce price?!

There is a smaller (5.8m) Osprey here (http://www.professional-boat-sales.c...boatslist.aspx) for 20k and that will be a turn the key and go job. Although I must admit, if I had the extra 10k i'd also go for the biggest I could get. It would certainly make an enormous difference compared to the Pro 7 crap you have. I know it's crap, I had one !

My mistake although their spelling errors make you think they are from Belgium. The web site says they are "build" in the UK or Cyprus and assembled in Belgium.

I have a 200 Optimax hanging on the back of mine+ 15 two stroke mercury aux + 25 litres of fuel for the aux and a radar on top of the A frame
It's not sunk and lands fine from some nice air
Performance is just under 50 knots at 5200 rpm very similar to a 7m with a 250 Etec
I've been told I can squeeze another 2-3 knots by lifting the engine and playing with the prop size but I don't need more speed, I'm happy
as it is
some good runs in the lochs this week

Loving 50 knots+ its a nice round number unlike 43 haha! I think a straight etec 200 is the way to go unless a nice ho comes up. From what you say a suzu will probably wreak the balance of the boat?! Is a 15hp aux neccessary, i have a little 2.6 sib with a 3.3 merc could I use this or is you 1hp/m really important, 15hp sounds like it would get you on the plane!!!!!???

I would think under 5HP you'd have trouble punching tide. A 9.9 would be very good.

the 9.9 is usually a detuned bigger engine it's got something to do with a french tax break. I think. It should fit on the transom easy.

no worries about the photies if there of use to you that's good enough for me
