Round Britain 2019

Hi,

A friend, my dad and I set off on a round Britain trip we’ve been planning for a couple of years on June 1st. We’ve not really announced it as it’s completely unsupported, but tonight we met some keen RIB boys in Amlwch which has changed everything!!!

Spending the evening with them has been great, so if anyone is interested I’ve been trying to keep a blog at roundbritain2019.blogspot.com

If anyone fancies a beer anywhere drop me a message or txt on 07342204618.

Well done.

Unfortunately the weather hasn't been kind to you but I'm sure the good bits will outweigh the bad bits.

Hi Tom , it was good to meet you and have a few beers . I’m sure if you let the guys know where you are intending mooring up for the night you’ll get some offers of accommodation and someone will run you to the local garage for fuel .good luck on your trip to the IOM today , the weather looks good [emoji108]

Just read it - poor sods have had it tough so far by the sounds of it. Looks like an aquatic pub crawl by rib!

Round Britain 2019

Thanks all for the reply’s. Struggling for WiFi so the blog updates are sometimes a couple of days behind... I’ll probably just stick to that rather than posting on rib net also as take a little while to do each day and upload photos.

If anyone has any recommendations of places to visit, please don’t hesitate to send your suggestions.

Cheers,
Tom.

Hi Tom

If you give us an idea of your proposed route up the west coast of Scotland I'm sure there'll be dozens of suggestions of places to visit/avoid.

Hi, plans have changed slightly and we’ll be around Jura/Mull the day after tomorrow before needing to be at Fort William on the 29th to go across via the Caledonian canal. We’ll have about 5 days in/around the Hebrides...
Thanks.

So you're not actually going around Britain, then?

If you're heading for the Hebrides. On Route...Canna & Eigg probably the best of the Small Isles, Loch Scavaig and a walk round Loch Coruisk. west coast of Skye is stunning. Highlights about half a mile into Bracadale from McLeods Maidens and about half a mile up the coast from same. If the weather is kind you'll be able to get ashore at Niest Point Lighthouse also good shelter and I believe a pontoon at Pooltiel. Petrol at Dunvegan.

If you're going round the east of Skye Loch Hourn is stunning. Good cafe (and pontoons) at Kyleakin. Facilities at Plockton. Interesting sea cave on the north side of Eilean Trodday off the most northerly point of Skye. Good shelter and anchorage in Acairseid Mhor on Rhona.
If you're going into Portree check with the harbourmaster that there's not a cruise ship in as they close the pontoon to other users.

PS 5 days in that area ain't nearly enough.Have fun..stay safe.
