‘New’ Vipermax owner

Hi All

I have just bought a 2003 7.0m Osprey Vipermax , previously owned by Chris Stevens and variously called Pigs Ear or Taurus.

She has now been renamed ‘Venom’ and is living at Portchester Dry stack.

She needs a bloody good clean and a tidy up but looks substantially sound and in good condition.

Engine has done 320 hours and seems to run well. Will give it a good blast this weekend.

There is a small gelcoat repair to do on the keel line, and the tubes and grp need some tlc.

Feels good to have a decent rib again after a brief foray into a hard sports boat. Never again !

Can’t seem to upload photos from my iPhone?

May see some of you on the Solent this summer?

Wife thought a cuddy cabin would be good for the grandchildren so bought a Fletcher 21 with a 5.7 Mercruiser. Very quick but too much slamming for my liking in any sort of sea conditions other than flat calm. Very very happy to have a decent sized rib now for the summer!

Nice looking boat!

If you want a cuddy cabin hard boat that doesn't slam then I'd recommend a Windy 25 Mirage. Mate had one. RCD B and a reasonable deadrise. Fairly quick too! Probably as good as they get in that size with some shelter.

I like the Windy powerboats but a good one would be out of my budget ☹️ In any case I’m a rib chap at heart. Just had a weak moment, but rectified now!
