New Pac 22 Owner

Recently joined the site and even more recently bought a 1991 Pac 22 with Mermaid inboard and Sternpowr outdrive.

Went against most perceived wisdom and bought almost the first I've seen and without a test drive. It has new tubes and had obviously been taken care of if you are a glass half full type of person / tarted up to sell if your glass is half empty. The ex-owner is taking me out this Saturday to show me how it all works.

I've downloaded the Northern Exposure Pac 22 manual which is now bedtime reading. Trying to stay away from looking at farkles particularly with the boat show next week.

I'm sure there will be a few questions on the way.

Cheers

Hi, Whisper and Jambo are clearly slacking - its over an hour since you posted and they've not been along to say Hi... so I will

Pac 22 is a fairly big boat for a first RIB so good show...

All the perceived wisdom in the world is great unless the first boat was an unlikely to ever be repeated bargain!

Welcome to the New Improved & Friendly RIBnet!

Nice boat - good hull, good engine (it won't break any speed records, but meh!) and a very tough outdrive/leg which bodes well for you in the future. With new tubes like your's - the whole package sound attractive, and it's pre-cleaned!!!

New (to me) Pac 22

Thanks for the replies.

I took my Pac 22 (9125) out for its maiden voyage at the weekend with the family. The noise of the diesel, which I like, and the motion caused my 11 month old to sleep for the high (for a Pac 22) speed parts of the trip. Other than a slight weep of hydraulic fluid from the steering wheel, it all seems very good.

Whilst the previous owner looked after it, I'm intending on giving the thing a service for peace of mind. I've got the manuals for the boat, engine and stern drive and I'm quite looking forward to the mechanical side of things. Any hints / tips would be welcome.

Whilst I've driven RIB's before, I'll be the first to admit I don't really know what I'm doing so I'm planning on doing some training, probably the intermediate powerboat course. If anyone has some recommendations in the Solent area I'd be grateful.

Any comments / suggestions on the boat are welcome.

Cheers

GuyC
