Hi All,

Just wondering what members do we have along the East Coast North of Dublin. I have been a Rib owner this past 2 years and only just joined the site.

Plenty of info available, and thinking of changing my Rib very soon and was looking to talk to a couple of lads with 6-8 metre ribs.

I was running a 6.5m twin outboard Redbay there for a few years and have been messing about with the bigger models since (I like a bigger model, like the 850). Any info you need, say the word.

Thanks for all the welcomes! Good to know there are people so close with a bit more knowledge than I have!

Moonshadow: I'm in Clogherhead alright, launch from the outer slipway usually from April to October. Do you be down round that area much?

Ribochet: Very interested to hear from you, I will PM you. I am an RNLI crew member in Clogherhead. And very interested in the Stormforce range. I was up with the lads in Redbay on there last open day and was very impressed with the boats and the range. I was looking at 750, but think that a Stormforce 650 might be sufficient for my needs. I'm currently working offshore, so my boating season is limited to about 3 months max. 4, a year, and I thought the 650 might be better value for money, based on that fact.

Any other guys out there that had a Stormforce 650 and went to a bigger model? I was also thinking for a while about a cabin Rib to extend the season a bit, but due to the lack of mooring facilities where I live, I feel like it may be too much to handle launching on and off a trailer regularly.

Well id guess we are neighbours so,recently got a rib but habeen leisure boating inland for years.BTW might be interested in a used Humber for a mate

PM me by all means. I've been poking around a few 750s recently. Portnahaven on here is the most recent new owner of a full cabin 750 and I'm sure he and the other owners would be happy to discuss their boats.

If you were at the last open day you saw my old rib - blue and white 6.5 with twin Evinrudes. She sold the same day.

Willk I did see your boat there, and would I be right in saying you were there also?

Had a look at the video of Portnahaven, looks class. Puts cabin ribs up there!

The latest boat is being tubed at the moment. She has one of the last Yamaha inboards left and is being fitted with Seaglaze units, rather than lexan. This means that the owner can spec an opening window at the helm - a nice touch.

Myself and donegaldan were knocking about Redbay all day, so we most likely met you at some point.

Yes I run all the RYA Powerboat, Instructor, Inland Waterways, PWC and Navigation courses.

Any idea what inboard diesels Redbay might use as a replacement for Yamaha's..

Lots of options at the mo. They have completed recent installations with both Yanmar and Volvo (they used both regularly in the not sooo distant past). They have a couple of lower HP, compact Hyundai Seasall units on standby that they intend using shortly - expectations are high but time will tell. Hyundai are being helpful in matching up their units to third party legs.

The next novel install will be twin Volvo 500hps with ZF gearboxes, shafts and rudders...

Are the Volvo's D6 or bigger are they destined for the 16 metre.

Would be a long haul North to travel on Easedale trip but I am threatining a Scottish run with a couple of years now so might just go for it.

Did the trip a couple of years back from Ballycastle to Oban diving with "Aquaholics" on a 3 day trip great memories.

D9s, AFAIK.

The roads are good - you know you want to. We were looking at our charts today, the trip, allowing for the maximum possible routing, is about 250Nm, so you'd get a good stretch when you got up there.

Aquaholics are decent skins, good judges of RIBflesh too...
