Hi all

Hi all,

Just thought i'd pop my head up. Im new here, new to boating and looking to buy my first RIB later this year in time for a holiday to Devon.

Im doing my RYA powerboat level 2 in a couple of weeks time as have recently joined a search and rescue team.

If anyone has any advice on what to get/what NOT to get etc then feel free to share.

Thanks.

I reckon around 4-6k possibly to start with. depending on whats available. Im going to Devon for a week in August so will take a look around whilst im there if i haven't got one by then.

Yes to Towing, Probably store at home not in a garage but under a shelter.

4-6 would buy you a reasonable Rib. if you want a very seaworthy fun and towable rib there is a Searider 4.7 on Ribnet classified that has just gone on. be quick cos they are bloody rare and the Yam 70 that its got is even rarer cos everybody wants them
And no its not mine but i have had a go in it and its great fun!

What do you plan to do with it? How many people, type of conditions, beach hoping for BBQ's, long distance cruising, dinghy safety boat, diving, fishing, skiing etc...

Mostly beach hopping i guess, maybe eventually tow a ring or something for the niece/nephews just more short coastal trips, exploring coves etc. Probably about 4 adults... i guess.
