Hello From York

Just wanted to say a little hello and give a little intro to all of you (before i start asking idiotic questions )

I'ts been a fair few years since I've owned a boat but I've just bought an Avon Seasport S3.45 with a 40Hp mariner 2 stroke (recoil start/ manual lift. no batteries to faff about with) on the transom (yes i know, slightly over engined). I bought of a chap who by trade is a marine engineer and has had the transom reinforced heavily so will be fine if a little erm, lively.

Yet to get it in the drink (sorting a few bits out first like the basics of getting paddles, Anchor and giving the engine a service and so on). peace of mind and all that. better to sort out now than off Scarborough radioing the coastguard. lol

Like I said, I've have boats before (all small). started off with a Newbourne Colt sport with 25hp suzuki then an Avon 4m Searider with 45Hp merc and lastly (before the ex wife did here thing) a Fletcher Arrowflyte with 75hp merc. since then it's just been me and my motorbike.

Anywho, I'm back ready to scuttle around the river Ouse and east coast hopefully with a stupid grin on my chops.

RIBase
Hi and welcome. Don't worry about getting responses it happens to be a little quieter on forum at present. Just keep posting either originator or responder and enjoy. It's like a lot of things the more you put in the more you will get back.

If you're insecure, neurotic and a bit "chippy" then I'd say you'll blend in nicely...

Steers = Staithes a coastal village about 10 miles north of Whitby.

I keep my boat on a mooring in our village, so haven't used the slip in Whitby but it looks pretty wide, open and not horrifically steep (unsure of fees etc). The slips in our village are a pain to use, very tight cobbled streets to reverse down with potential for already being blocked with parked cars, one is incredibly slippy and only useable with a 4x4/tractor, all need the correct tide etc.

when it comes to launching i'm very much a novice in the scheme of things so space, a gentle slipway and preferably no onlookers waiting for me to cock up.

lets face it, when ever you cock up in life there is always someone around to point and laugh. lol
