A good first boat; what engine ?

Plenty of people here to buddy up with if you don't have much experience, just join in. There seams to be a Poole contingent on a lot of the Solent gatherings

Morning it's and 115hp evinrude for S/S viper 21" prop. We have just completed our RYA 2 power boat. Not bad for a weeks for work, buy a boat , insurance , storage and course.
I would love to meet up with other as we are still newbies.

Hi and Welcome to Ribnet.
Sounds like a lot crammed into a week. Any previous experience on the water?

Hi, welcome to ribnet and poole boating, are you trailering your boat or do you have a berth in a marina.

Poole is agreat place to have a rib as lots of places to see. Here are some of my favourite spots from Poole.

Poole Harbour & Wareham Channel (wareham for fish and chips, but check tides and also river can be narrow in places)
Studland (but very busy in summer)
Swanage, to the north in the corner by rocks is a good place to anchor off the beach, reasonbly quiet apart from some jet skiers being PITA and driving too close to beach.
Durlston head and sea birds
Jurrassic Coast line from poole to weymouth but beware of St Aldhelms Head and the ledge which can generate very large and powerful overfalls, so check tides and weather, avoid if large (go round)
Chapmans Poole - best place on coast on a calm summers day as not many people go there so quiet, good anchoring and swimming.
Kimmerridge, perhaps avoid due to too many ledges
Warbarrow Bay - very nice
Lulworth Cove, avoid in summer too many boats
Durdle Door worth a look

Cowes
Lymington
Yarmouth
Southampton
Portsmouth
beaulie River

We are Poole frequenters, launch from Baiter usually, you can't miss us as ours is A not currently a rib & B Its bright yellow

If new to the area happy to guide you about one day to get your bearings & learn the ropes of the area, as for newbies there can be a few things to watch out for.

Your always welcome to tag along for a day too, often head down to Lulworth or the IOW if the weather & tides suit or just laze about Poole Harbour & Studland areas.
