Bolt rope reinstallation

The bolt rope on my Zodiac 550 is coming off the flotation collar. I am trying to find specific instructions on how to re-attach the rope to the collar. The collar is only 6 years old and other than this problem, is in perfect condition.
I hope somebody has been through this and can help.
thanks,
Alex

Remove the tube from the boat
ark the location where the bolt rope original was with a pen or marker (so it doesn't wash off)
use a heatgun to remove the remaining bolt rope
degrease everything with soap + water
strip the old glue off with chemicals
mark off your location you're gluing with masking tape
prep wipe multiple times with MEK on both surfaces
glue it on with a 2 part glue designed for inflatable boats

There isn't much to it.

Do one side at a time. Make sure you get the "T"-strip to lay flat against the tube. It'll want to curl and develop a void in the middle.

Bolt Rope

Thanks for the info. Is there a "glue removal chemical" you would recommend?
Thanks again,
Alex

MEK + scotchbrite pad. I'm not a big fan of this, you go through a lot of MEK, and it makes a lot of fumes. There's also a big risk for introducing a cosmetic blemish if you spill or drip MEK outside the area you're working.

I've found that Kleanstrip "Paint & Adhesive Remover" works pretty well. Apply it as a gel with a brush, wait about 5-10 minutes, apply another coat, wait 5-10 minutes, then come back and scrape with a plastic spatula. The old glue comes off as dirty looking goop. Then immediately rinse the area with soap + water to remove the residual chemical. You want to be careful with this stuff...if you leave it on too long, it will damage the material.

Thanks again for this info. One last question. What is a good 2 part adhesive to use? And where can I order it online?
Thanks,
Alex
