First time out.....it's very sheltered, the rangers would have helped him launch and, had there been a problem, there's others about to help. I know mid summer it's absolutely manic and for me a complete "no go area", I've sat for an hour waiting in the queue to launch but it's not bad just now.

PS At least McDonald's does decent coffee....

to be fair, considering how busy it is they have the system down pretty well for launching.

however, it is not meant for launching anything not on a trailer. you can't take the boat out the boot and blow it up literally at the water there. if you want to launch at that end i've seen people use the beach, probably best bet....and free!

15 quid per launch sucks

cheers

Yeh and Largs hit us for £22 last week........seriously looking for other options.

Decent public slip & car park just outside the marina, not sure how much tidal scope it has though.

Better than the £25-£35 per launch places charge on the Lancaster canal and ~£18 per day for a river canal license!

Sorry I can't help you, never used largs slips.

Start up another thread as I'm sure someone will know about that slipway.

Cheers

Hi Tango, the public slip at largs is only good at high water, its got quite a drop off, and dries out at low water, time it right and its fine.

I pay an annual fee of about £150, in the marina, then you can use anytime day or night, all year, and you get use of showers etc.

Gerry.

I had a great time over the weekend. Launching at the beach wasn't a problem but i think I need to invest in a trolley for the motor. It's one thing lifting it, it's a different story trying to carry it anywhere.
