1) I had not plans to anchor in main city of Spetsas or Hydra. I do not like crowds. You can see on attached charts that my target are some bay.
Agios (St.) Nikolaos | Hydra Greece | Travel guide to Hydra (Cephalonia) Island | Hydra Hotels

But to spend one night I will have no choice and go to Hydra port or rent something in the middle (Porto Heli for example).

Many thanks for all info. I did not expect so many boats in Jun/July in this area.

2) I like to predict things so this is a reason why I'm asking
Hope that I can moor close to Pavlopetri or anchor outside of ruins and go for snorkelling

I'm thinking to change vacation location to one closes to Elafonisos maybe.
170 km in total (one way) against thermal wind (meltemi is its name if I remember) looks like challenge. Or I bought too small boat and too small engine (boat and engine are always too small I think )

Is there a good idea to go around Elafonisos ? Or to stay in few places marked by stars

I'm looking for empty bays/beach without people and infrastructure. At least not so many people and small tavern be welcome

I started to worry if I did good to buy 5.4 RIB and tow it to Greece ...
Maybe be better to rent Scorpio over 8m RIB (250 HP engine) near Athens.

But I think that best solution against Meltemi Meltemi wind - Greek Meltemi winds Turkey Greece - Yachting and Sailing vacations the Aegean. is to start trips not later than 8 - 9 AM to avoid it.

Elafonisos really remind me Elafonisi beach on Crete Island.

I will use my RIB in Crete also (Palaiochora will be my port) and one of the trip is Paleochora Elafonisi also (and Kedrodasos or even Balos). Real life will probably verify my plans but I will try

I have one more question to Greek RIB.net members.
I have been warned about Meltemi and fact that on returning way I can face it and it can be not pleasant trip returning trip from Monemvasia to Kiwieri.

I will have, car, trailer boat. What do you think about idea to drive from Kiwieri to Agios Vasillos

Based on google it will take 2 hrs (ok with trailer maybe 2.5 hrs)
And next to have short trip (50 km) to Elafonisi by boat.
From Elafonisi there is another 50 km to Monemvasia

Is it better than 100 km by boat from Kiwieri to Monemvasia ?
Or better to travel by boat early morning, stay night in Elafonisos and return again early morning to Kiwieri to avoid wind ?

I have read some info about Cape Maleas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and below mentioned sentence have scared me:

Quote:
The headland of Cape Maleas, known for its treacherous weather
So I think I will locate my boat (by towing it from Nafplio - Argolid Gulf ) near Gythio for few days to explore Elafonisios and coast between Gythio and Elafonisos.

Monemvasia and famous Diros Cave I will visit by car I suppose.
Diros Cave - Peloponnese - Lakonia - Diros - Attractions - History - ??????? ?????

And second port place be near Nafplio to explore Spteses and Hydra and coast between Nafplio and Spetses. This is my current plan.

Next place it be Paleochora in Crete ...

Both Spetses and Hydra are wonderful,if you make it to Poros make sure you visit Russian Bay,Vathi is another wonderful spot. Methana is interesting if not a little smelly for the Methane but water turns white so worth a quick look if passing.

@Low Flyer

Many thanks for advises.

From Kiwier to Poros is about 68 - 70 miles

By HIGHFIELD OM540DL (HONDA BF100) it will take more than 3 hrs (22 knots average speed - depends on wind direction).

I think that best idea is to make a trip to Poros (make break every hr or even often). And stay night at Poros. From Poros make a trip to Methana on evening the same day) and Hydra (next day).
If wind be NE or NW continue to Spetses ...

Something like that ...

I'm worried only about wind. NE,N,NW will be perfect for this trip.
Unfortuantelly SE (which is often in this area) will make it impossible (especially between Hydra and Poros). I will follow advice of Greek RIB.net members and start trips early morning (even 8 AM).

I did not make any booking now but I plan to be in Peloponese between 26 Jun 2015 and July. Next to I will go to Creete - Paleochora village (South part of Crete).

If anyone of RIB.net member plan to be here at the same time it will be nice to meet.
