Thats what i thought , I have nearly broken ribs a few times surfing sea kayaks with a bow like that which suddenly bites and flips over so fast you get whiplash .

have any of the plymouth ribbers seen that very futuristic looking silver/grey boat with a hull like that, it was moored near the gin palaces in the narrows opposite the cremyl ferry slip.

I have 2 wave piercing boats in a storage shed at my work. Suffice to say big (16m+) and fast (x2 750hp) and they go through the waves at speed, but surely these RIB versions loose that advantage because of the tube??

Yes, ALUGATOR is french.

As Antoine wrote, the prototype will be available for test drives from next end of May.

Wave-piercers are definitely not new, but it is something quite different from what does exist in the RIB industry at this time. What we wanted is not to make one more RIB in this already stuffed market, but to propose a very trendy design, together with what should be a very comfortable boat while cruising. Also, the material we use to build our ALUGATOR is not FRP but Aluminium, which is also making it very different and definitely stronger in shallow areas, and much more ecological as aluminium can be recycled.

We actually do not have any proof of the "sea capabilities" as we are at the prototype stage, but our architects did all the necessary work to achieve a very good result. Also, you may keep the link with our website www.alugator.com to get the freshest news!

Interesting design.. but I can't see that as a rough water boat though,..(maybe isnt meant to be) as soon as the bow breaks a wave, then comes down, there is no lift to stop it stuffing surely ?. I can see the principle of it going through a wave, as opposed to over it, but once the wave height gets over a certain factor, I would imagine performance to be pretty poor. Will be interesting to see how it runs

At first view, I would not feel comfortable in a following sea, and I agree with your opinion - next step is submarine !
