I have a Zodiac Cadet 2.85m and it's a superb little SIB. We bought it in 2009 and so far it has done six seasons.
We have used it in Scotland, in Cornwall, on the canal, the Norfolk Broads, River Dee in Chester, and Windermere.
The boat has been in and out of the bag over fifty times, and it has never had any faults.
It still looks like new.

The sectioned solid floor takes a few minutes to assemble and the air keel means it handles well at speeds up to 20mph.
The transom is wooden but seems very solid and after the engine has been on and off over fifty times there is no visible wear (there is an alloy plate on the inside where the engine clamps sit)
Overall l would thoroughly recommend this boat, and would buy another tomorrow.

After visiting the pessimistic local dealer, we made a trip down to Huntingdon to a dealer who was much more helpful and positive.

Plan at the moment: a Cadet 310 solid, with a 4 stroke engine which will be either 8 or 9.9 hp. Mariner and Mercury engines are showing as the same weight for these two sizes, and there's only about 50 difference new.

I was put off by much of what I read in here about the keel arrangement on the Fastroller Cadet.

Hartford Marina I guess? Our local place. I quite like the team there.. and the 2 for 10 eatery next door.

Well you must have deep pockets buying the outfit new but you are obviously committed to that route so no good me linking to used outfits on Ebay at a fraction of the price??

Of course the "value buyers" like myself do need folks to buy new in the first place!!

Have a look at the Tohatsu 9.8 two stroke engine as it only weighs 26kg (10kg less than the 4 stroke)
Unless you are OK carrying 38kg, or plan to use a trailer.
