Where - Launching sib

So with my sib can I just rock up any shore line , find a quiet spot inflate and go....or are u restricted to launching slipways

Unless there are any local bylaws or access restrictions, you can more or less launch where you’re able.

The sea is public, inland waters different of course. And you cannot land at certain private beaches/areas sometimes without being charged or told to go away (ie military etc).

I think you're totally new to all this??

If coastal.. Have you considered weather, tides (changing heights & flow) and just how you will launch... soft sand... waves... worse waves when you return... tide gone miles out or back so far in no beach left when you return... how to get into deep enough water to start engine etc.

If lakes down a slip with adj pontoon then many of the first trip issues are removed.

We live in lake district so going to practice on ullswater . Once get used will try a very calm day at sea or cove somewhere or river .

I've heard folks mention Park Foot caravan site where you can use their slip, parking and toilets for £5/day.

See there are also slipways at Howtown and Glenridding plus probably more I don't know.

Speed limit 10mph but folks say as long as you don't draw the attention of the lake ranger you'll be OK a bit above.

Just came across this Cumbria and it might be of interest as it shows a guy launching his T32 from packed in the bag to motoring out from the shore. In real time too so pretty well every part of the process shown.

I was on YouTube looking at something unrelated to boats when it popped up in the right side list of recommended videos.

Interesting video.

A tip for you Cumbria, don't do what he did and pile your stuff in the bow, wait and rebalance when you get to the water's edge. Keep heaviest gear as close to the stern as possible and it will save lifting effort at the front. Also I never folded the wheels until it was properly floating with the prop submerged to save scratching the underside.

Compared to my 2016 3.8m Excel those (expensive) wheels are inferior folding-wise, but I like the look of the boat in general. I think you made a good choice going for the 3.2m. I would have been better off with that size I think.

Btw electric pump is invaluable!

Ref private beaches. My understanding is that it's private only after the high tide mark. So between low and high it's still public. Not that the private beach owner will see it that way if you land at low tide then have a picnic and leave before high tide. Obviously doesn't apply to launching or retrieval just a stopover.

Glenridding is a nice easy launch location - from the car park next to the steamer pier. No launch fee, just the car park to pay for.

Keep an eye on the steamers, and time your launch when there isn't one arriving / leaving.

You can easily walk your boat along the shore away from the steamer pier to give yourself a bit more room

Depends if the foreshore aka (Intertidal zone). is private as well or not most UK foreshore is property of the crown estates but not all...

Checked it out near steamer looks good , has a sign up saying contact steamer house, other than that looks good

I think that sign was there when I used the slip a few years ago. I went in and asked and the guy behind the counter just shrugged and said help yourself.

Didn't bother asking when I used the slip a week later to recover the boat and noone said anything.
