Wheeler Dealers

I agree 69cmw ...these prices are very over inflated..I got my Quicksilver 4.3 + 25hp Mariner two stroke and trailer for that price..engine and boat pristine condition and 2005 made for both.

I also bought a pair of trem wheels for £50..just as well they were cheap as I don’t use them

Nothing to do with me..but is this not one of those Holy grail outboards for £400 ? Its only come on line in the last hour so if anyone wants to pay a realistic price ..be quick .. Check things out though as it could be a scam..but if you are in Fort William area and want one..go see it..that is how you get bargains.

Thank god I live in the north where prices are sensible (Sorry Max)

Hi Fenlander ..these are mine in the photo. I put the wheels on my trailes..but £25 should get me a set of Screwfix barrow wheels to put on it ? and I will put these back on the Trem stands..if you are interested.

I certainly wont charge you southern prices.. I will need to hunt out the stainless buttons ..that fit on the transom.. ..you will know the bits I mean .. but Im sure they are in my shed..I will look after dinner. If they are suitable for you..and you can arrange a courier .. Im certain we can agree on a very fair price. If we agree ..I will even let you have them before you pay me.. I can’t be fairer than that

Like anything at the end of the day the market dictates the price - remember of course that the classified eBay (or wherever) price is just the advertised price, not the final price.

However, list on an Aerotec is £2200 or whatever so less than half that is a fair price for one say up to five or six years old secondhand in good used condtion, sure you can pay a lot less like Fenlander and myself have done for used examples by keeping your eyes open or being in the right place at the right time but that is the whole point of this particular topic.

Someone can always flag up a killer bargain but fact remains the going rate for a late, clean, well looked after 2 stroke Tohatsu 9.8 or Merc/Mariner/Yam/Suz etc 15 is £1000 to £1200. So, an outfit with one of those and an Aerotec + wheels (retailing at £200+) for £1800/£1900 *is* a good deal.

Mad Max .. You certainly have crooks down there.. with floppy wallets

Fenlander..

They have a slight rake in them..so here is a side on..they were supposed to be for the heavy quicksilver..but I cant lift the front of my boat now..with my mods to the SIB..its too heavy..so I didn’t even try fitting the wheels

The kink is OK... when mounted it puts the wheels under the transom for best balance rather than behind it.

Gurnard as I don't know how to attach an image to a PM here is one where you can see the grey plastic backing "shims" behind the Trem brackets.

I paid £1250 for a new Aerotec in 2011 from a dealer down south, so I still reckon £1200 for a 14 year old Aerotec is a rip off

This whole thing is going a bit off-topic now but as I say the price advertised is not the price paid in most cases and agreed for a 14 yr old £1000 to £1200 is too much but as noted in my post you quoted I was referring to one much younger than that.

I'm not supporting the £1200 for a 14yr old SIB (that one will actually be 15 in 6wks as a matter of interest) but given the 2014 retail of an Aerotec was £2687 and most dealers were selling around £2300 then just 3yrs earlier there was something *very* special about your £1250 inc delivery deal... way out of the norm.

Sorry Max..must have been my auto correct and I didn’t notice

I have found the buttons now Fenlander.. although I don’t have the nuts or washers any more. But those are easy to source. If these are suitable.. arrange a courier and we can do that by PM ..and you can have the Trem setup for free. Why ? Money means nothing to me.. what means more to me is

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

And I have certainly read a merry yarn lately

Edit..just seen your post with the plastic bits.. I don’t have those..its just as is in the photos..plus the wheels etc ..but its all free if you can use it ..but to you only .. for anyone else..its Max prices

Gurnard that's very kind and I've already PM'd you. I'm not one to take advantage so we'll sort a donation to RNLI or whoever... or a meal/chat/drink at Tayvallich next year.

No problem Fenlander.. I replied to your PM so you should have my email address now.. its easier to correspond that way. I will settle for your offer to meet you a day at Tayvallich next year..I would be interested in seeing an aerotec.. and I have been meaning to visit Eilean Mor to photograph its old chapel ruins for a few years now. Its one of the islands at the mouth of Loch Sween. A good excuse to do so next year

cheers

Its a work of art - he managed to get the opening line to include "over inflated" as well!

For clarification too.. I have been in touch with Fenlander and the wheels are boxed ..waiting for collection. Im sure Fenlander will report back if its a box of bricks Im sending..but its not..it is a free set of wheels.. I have little use for them..and as he will use them ..I have no problem helping anyone.

I enjoy our debates .. and I hope they enlighten others on the things we debate about ..even though our opinions sometimes differ...but I do confess .. I can go off topic at times.

Do I need to apply for trade membership for a freebie Poly ?

Have we suffered a setting aside?

Anyway that box reminds me... not that I've ordered of course... of the ads that would say "sent under plain cover"!

Mrs Fenlander will think Christmas has arrived early!

The wheels arrived safely today and a trial fitting has already been undertaken. I will hopefully be fully testing them together with my new wetsuit pants this Friday.

Many thanks to The Gurnard for his selfless generosity in sending the wheels..
