You could purchase a handheld VHF radio. They are about 60 for a cheap one. Better than a mobiles because generally the signal to the coastguard tower is always decent. If you haven't used one before I suggest you put it on channel 16 and leave it in case you are in need of help.

You will need 3x the depth you will be anchoring of rope. You also need a decent length of chain at the end of the rope. I think it is 1.5x the boat?

Good luck and have fun

Woz, hope the mechanic can sort out the 25 for you at a decent cost. If boating close to shore 30 Mt of rope will be plenty, don't forget to include the booze on the what will I need items, maybe add a new spark plug set. Have fun, let the audience know how was your boating day trip..

Happy Boating

Ok thanks for the advice..I haven't a clue how deep the seas going to be so how much rope shall I attach?? Will have some chain knocking about......

Hi downhilldia..
The fella iv bought it off has offered to collect and refund me twice now..has said he will pick up the bill for the engine..the engine and trailer was supposed to have been professionaly serviced....I checked the trailer over yesterday and the hubs were bone dry and one bearing had broken up so I'm pleased it wasn't collected or there would of been a stranded boat and owner at the side of the road....
I deal quite alot and on occasion there are issues which I don't mind Aslong as people are honourable and true to there word....the boating world is a small one lol

Hi Woz

Everytime I go to sea I always have a sense of "worry".

Its out of respect for the sea as it can be a good servant but a bad master.

Check out this link for some good top tips - let us know how you get on - photos are brill

RNLI sea safety advice

Over time have a good look at the interactive publication "Sea Safety -The Complete Guide" - highly recommended
