Thanks guys, lesson learnt. The patch is indeed underneath the next layer, so shouldnt be under any undue stress. I have used rounded corners, so hopefully not an issue.

Its been 2 days since I applied the patch, so I have inflated the floor. The patch is holding nicely, no bubbling.
Thanks for all the help, it has been much appreciated and I would probably not had the confidence to tackle this without the encouragement.
