I have got the same engine but in long shaft so I can use it as an aux on my big boat and mess around on the Sib. Have a look at the Sib club videos under upcoming rib cruises mines the 2.9m cream Sib that broke down. Don't let that affect you judgement on buying though!

Sure it wasn´t a 4stroke.
I own the lightest 20hp 4stroke in the market (Honda BF20 short shaft manual start) and also 3 flattened lumbar disks...not to blame the engine for them, but I would not recommend handling alone such weight beyond forties.

Is it the 9.8 that is lighter? And can the 9.9 be upgraded to say a 15?

The 9.9 is a monster engine - weighs 41kg. It's basically a derated 15hp. There is a mungo 18hp version of the same engine.
