fair play to ye for going out, can see it is quite lumpy when you get out the loch in your pics, great rib weather!

the lochs are magic for pottering about, i'm going to get a sib purely for doing that. i went to see a bombard aerotec a month or so ago but decided against it for something a bit bigger (i.e honwave, seapro hd etc).

the only downside with gareloch/loch long are the polis sniffing about. if they are bored they may give you a shout to break their day up. happened to me twice up loch long in recent years, siren on and came full chat after me.

interestingly i was never ever pulled in my cabin cruiser and i was no where near the protected area on the charts, twice in the rib now..........ummmm.

they are always polite of course, just wanting to see i am not greenpeace with a rib i guess. to be fair i probably goto carrick castle 10x a season so once now and then is probably a good ratio.

loch goil is brill, well worth the trip if you are about, it is always calm up there. usually see a couple of eagles up on the hills as you enter loch goil...keep your eyes open.

cheers

I got a right good grilling off the big patrol boat cos I cut the corner of the exclusion zone @30kts in our last cruiser made me tie alongside the patrol boat & took me onboard for a full pnc check & educational talk while his mate had a rummage round our boat only got away with it cos I'd switched the plotter to full screen fish finder before we stopped
Aparently there is a 14knt limit all the way down to cumbrae but they don't enforce it unless you upset them but they have radar all the way up the clyde so no escape

everything you should need to know is here-

http://peelports.com/wp-content/uplo...tion-20121.pdf

they gave me the radar bit btw last time i was yanked, but i asked them how they seen me when i had no reflectors on my last boat. it was a serious question as i was genuinely interested....they clammed up. i don't know if they could or could not see me for real?

edit- btw i have never had the come aboard our boat, it has only been what you doing, where you going and on your way.

cheers

It was a good few years ago probably one of the first seasons we had the boat up here we have the guide now but were a bit greener back then.
Had a few good trips up the river since then & a few nights in the city on the pontoons
