So this is why I bought a SIB, too :)

...Because it packs away into this

And takes me 5 miles off the coast of north devon

5 miles to the northwest of Bideford Bar, checking speeds and fuel consumption before we attempt an altogether longer trip..

Yes and that's totally what it's about for me too.

Yesterday we set up next to our car in the seafront car park and being a school day (so no quayside packed with crabbers) were mostly surrounded by the silver haired Yaris club having a few hours out in the sun.

One chap chatted to me and said he had no idea when we pulled the bag out of the car what we were going to reveal. He was mightily impressed as the Aerotec filled out and took shape. Wheels on and he said "you off to the slip to paddle away". When he realised there was an engine yet to be produced and that our destination was some 20 miles away by Yaris he was gobsmacked all that could happen from a car boot.

Absolutely, also I cant speak for other sib models but once i got the air pressures sussed I have been gobsmacked at the general seaworthiness of the bombard. I have a lot of confidence in it out on the open sea, I'm sure it could take way more punishment than I could withstand!

Nice one! Like the thread title ;-)

When you say a trip further afield, are you off somewhere exotic in your SIB?

Can I come?

Well what have you done Stig? You should 'fess up with all the details. Chuck it up on the LR90 thread so everyone notices.

I said elsewhere you needed a bigger boat... now you have the perfect tow/launch/recover vehicle inc a winch. I reckon a RIB is on the horizon!

BTW however chunky your LR never push your luck off the main hard at Mersea...

BTW elsewhere you said something re outboard testing and being at the same place same time... we were only 24hrs out this weekend so I'm sure it will happen sometime.

...The exotic Lundy Island! Welcome to come but obviously its dependant on a perfect weather and swell window so when it happens it will be at very short notice. watching the long range weather and swell buoys very carefully.
