As bongy says Craftinsure seems the way to go - I was quoted at £45ish for a SIB + 9.8 with £3m public liability - that's the bit that is most important.

I got 3 quotes for my insurance with the main stipulation being insurance in France. Boat is an Aerotec 3.8 with a 25hp 2 stroke Yammi. They were as follows:

- DeNovo £195.50 with £300 excess (not sure of underwriter)
- Noble Marine £198.75 with £0.00 excess (not sure of underwriter)
- Insure My Boat £111.30 with £125 excess (underwriter is Navigators & General owned by Zurich)

These are all with a 0% no claims as this is my first boat.

Obviously went for the latter and the nice part is that the standard policy covers you for the entire EU including Norway, Croatia and Switzerland as standard! You are also automatically covered for skiers and wake boarders but not for water toys.

I think they might have given you a bit of 'sales pitch' / duff information there - I think most policies would class anyone other than the policy holder as a third party. Certainly the case according to the insurers I spoke to...

I went with Craftinsure in the end ...and the policy covers me for claims by members of my group as third parties...
