Last bit of the link is dead but I think it should only be the last (around 2006) models with the later colour/decals and without a mark on them that go £1100-£1250.

Ok, so I felt pushed to measure boot space
I got 110cm depth with the boot closed (A6 Avant), so both 3.2 Honwave and Aerotec should fit with some folding practice.
Coming from a RIB, my other train of thoughts is flat vs v-hull (Honwave vs Aerotec) in typical UK conditions and the sliding feel of flat-bottom turns. Then there is Honwave vs longer Aerotec, more Honwaves that Aerotecs, price difference between them, etc... Huh, this is slowly turning into "which SIB is best for Jerry" thread - a lot of degrees of freedom!

I'm discounting FRIBs because these are not as easy to manage on my own when packing.

OK so if you had the longest dimension fore/aft that would leave the space beside it for the OB which would also need to go fore/aft to maximise the pack. My Suzuki DF20A wouldn't fit a 110cm dimension with its large cowl but my Mariner 9.9 4-stroke will... as will a Mercury/Mariner 15hp 2-stroke.

I have a few cm of play on the outboard. The back seats slope aft, the boot lid slopes fore. 110 cm was measured about 15cm from the floor level as a "usable length" for a 35cm high load. So this means I might be able to get extra few cm to tuck the skeg somewhere. Lots will depend on exact cowling dimensions, how thick the leg is, etc.
My contingency is to get a roofbox, my last resort is to strap stuff to roof bars - I don't like that because stuff would then be exposed to the wind.

I think you will struggle to get 4 people and the boat ,outboard fuel tank then all the kit life jackets waterproof gear ect food drink ect in a family car even a large one like an a6 Avant. oh and the honwave air floor isn't exactly flat it has a small but noticeable v and rides very well (I personally preferred it over a Aerotec 380 when I tried them side by side but everyone's different)

Jerry I have a roofbox that I could include in the package if you decide to get a honwave, alternatively I have a trailer.... obviously you’d have the cost of a tow bar but that would undoubtedly address all the space issues

>>>I think you will struggle to get 4 people and the boat ,outboard fuel tank then all the kit life jackets waterproof gear ect food drink ect in a family car

Tis true it's a fine art and you need to use squashable bags plus anything that can be an individual item... like wine, binoculars, shoes etc... needs to be pushed into any void that will take it.

Image below is of our 2009 C5 with all the boat gear for a week's sibbing in Scotland. In there is a Zodiac 360 Fastroller, Mariner 15 2-stroke and all the kit we carry. The personal luggage for 2 plus 2 teens has already been removed.

Now we have an older 5-series estate which is larger than the C5 but the size of boating kit we carry has increased too so there is a similar tight amount of luggage space left over needing a careful pack.

Re carrying a SIB on the roof I've found despite the lumpy look of the packed Aerotec having it just roped to the roof bars makes an insignificant difference in wind noise, performance & economy compared to our roofbox. I guess it's a statement of the obvious that a roofbox is no good for carrying the SIB or outboard but can take tank, lifejackets, transom wheels and all the other kit freeing up luggage space in the car.

That I agree with - 2.3HP even without any people wouldn't be fun

Well I was more looking at it from the boat point and if it sells not much above start it’s probably alright

You mean buy it and put the engine back on eBay? This would be way of doing it if the boat's pretty new. I'm after a complete setup though. I think I'm my head I'm still deciding Honwave or Aerotec.

Yes should get a couple hundred for it from other small outboards on there

Another option as it’s a more comparable size to an aerotec

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F263918160735

Then if the trailer doesn’t suit your use again it’s probably a couple hundred

In many ways Jerry an important decision to make before looking.

If you buy a sib and decide it’s not suitable, it’s not an expensive mistake if you buy Aerotec/honwave/zodiac at a reasonable price as you will recoup your cash

Research...... which you have done, then.....Trial and error is the only way (I’ve owned x3 sibs) as most forum members probably have

If anyone is after an aerotec I have a grey 3.8 with 8hp yam 2 stroke (currently repainting the engine so with a new prop will soon look like new), can’t remember the boat age, it’s been in my family since new but would think (can check the plate) around 2000/2001. No patches on tubes but one or two on the high pressure floor insert, they were repaired years ago without anything further since. Launching wheels fitted recently. Haven’t considered selling but haven’t used it much since when we do manage to get out we use the rib
