Seriously? Crazy - and you're in London too. Even if you offer to go and collect tomorrow paying cash? - I'd say £2200 is fair. Better that than the lottery of a time wasting eBay winner and 10% eBay fees etc.

Yes it does look good but anyone going after it would need to factor in...

It has the wrong Bravo pump which will not do the HP floor... the main point of having an elec pump.

The outboard is very scuffed for just "5 or 6 uses".

Having the thread stripped in one transom wheel will be a pain.

And returning to the outboard... he's selling it with a muff attachment so why on earth would he comment it's not been started for a while and could do with a service and a plug? If I was wanting to maximise my sale I'd have started it so I could say it was in good running order.

Plus it's annoying it has the wrong tank... that 12l Honda tank won't give enough range for many so a new Quicksilver 25l required ideally.

Good spot on the pump. Rest of it though (you niggly old cynic! ) - engine looks really clean to me?? Leg and prop very nice, maybe a few marks to the hood but that's par for the course, they always get knocked about in loading and storage and it is 10 years old! Leg, skeg and prop are the important areas to look for misuse. I think he is referring to the boat as used 5/6 times and owned from new, not that he bought the engine brand new? The fuel tank will sell easily and you can buy a 25l second hand for the same sort of money. Whatever with the boat, engine, tank, jackets and other extras it's a cracking set up and would cost well over £4k to buy all that gear new now.

I see this seller has a well know dealer of firm priced SIBs/outboards sniffing after it so the dealer must think there's a good profit left up to "X" pounds...

The one you linked Max... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Avon-infla...c=1&rmvSB=true is very similar to the way the original owner of our first SIB ran it. A 1970s Mk.1 Zodiac around 3m which he used with a 20hp 2-stroke on holidays abroad... reckoned it was huge fun. Transom was a work of art in polished mahogany... very strong and properly rated to 20hp.

Not exactly a great ad and cannot see the trailer but typically a basic SIB trailer will go for around £250 upwards. Boat I'd say £600. Engines seem a bit up and down looking on eBay but nice late 15 hp have always gone around £1100 + on here but a Merc 15 only made £700 on ebay a couple of weeks ago. The 18 is not worth more than a 15 I think. I'd try and pay no more than £1800 for a cash deal outside eBay.

Not much info on the trailer but assuming sound I'd guess SIB £600 & trailer £200 which brings the Tohatsu to a decent price.

If that's the Merc 15 I noticed it was 10yrs older than the "holy grail" with a scratched hood and unsightly corrosion on some areas under the hood. Doesn't make it a bad engine but the difference between average and minter has always been over wide.

Re the Tohatsu 18 2-stroke these were one of the holy grail models in around 20hp outboards when most others in that HP class were 52kg+ so the Tohatsu's 42kg was appealing. Lighter modern 20hp models have dented this appeal a little now. I remember a couple of years ago a mint late model Tohatsu 18 would often make £1500 or so. As Max says they seem to have slipped a little of late but personally if I needed one I would value it more than a 15hp 2-stroke of equal age/condition.

Still a very desirable outboard and I did seriously investigate a new one as an alternative to my Suzuki 4-stroke. Sadfly from the source I checked they were more expensive than the new Suzuki with some purchase problems.

Wow... Suzumar 3.2 RIB (small enough to come into SIB users interest I thought) with a decent looking trailer for £495. Add a Tohatsu 9.8 and that would be great fun.
