Another couple of examples of Holy Grail type engines that dont cost a fortune..on gumtree in the past couple of days

Tohatsu 9.8 two stroke .. 2005.. although..beware .. it is a long shaft 550

https://www.gumtree.com/p/boats-kaya...ine/1133249818

Yamaha 9.9 older two stroke engine short shaft but still looks ok ? 450

https://www.gumtree.com/p/boats-kaya...ine/1132880034

I obviously cant guarantee any of these engines ..they are all just gumtree adverts..but Im listing to show these are not one off prices. Only way I personally would spend Holy Grail prices was if I wanted the security of a dealers second hand warranty

The Tohatsu 15hp I mentioned earlier is listed again today too..price reduced to 370. Again..Im only demonstrating some prices ..certainly not selling or recommending. Best time of the year for a buyer though

You are right of course there are some brilliant bargains in the older engines. My current 15hp is a "holy grail" type but in truth I've had amazing service from older much less valuable ones.

For several years until we sold the outfit this old model (1985 or so) Mariner 20hp powered our 12ft Bonwitco fast fishing boat about the West coat on holidays with only oars for backup (only ever needed for rowing into shallows). Here seen powering away from Loch Caolisport towards the sound of Jura.

It was as smooth, reliable and easy to start as any newer engine we've
owned.

That's a superb project for someone and very cheap when you consider what the commissioned cost was!

Good spot - as the ad says will fit any other similar SIB too.

Have to say these are really good bags and better than most of their type.

Can't tell from the (terrible) pics if like many this Avon 'RIB' is really a SIB but looks a hoot for the money if it stays cheap:

Interesting outfit Max at a good start price.

Even more interesting is from "Flat 3" the guy is selling Honwave T20, T32 (x2), T38 (x2), T40, Quicksilver 3.8 & Proline 2.7. Engines offered are Suzuki 15 (x4), Suzuki 5, Honda 10, Mariner 15, Mariner 25.

Each boat/outfit is described as "my" and all engines regardless of age are said to be "believed low hours - 5, 10 or 15hrs".

Hmmm seems he's cornered the SIB and virtually unused outboard market in Brighton!!

The lady and the Mondeo appear in a few of the pics and some of them have the same background ?

Hmmm closer look and it seems his images are from out the front of the flat and his "auntie's" rather more posh place.

Confusingly I now think he's listed the boats and outboards as different combinations in different listings with at least one outboard as a stand alone alternative option.

Interesting lot of gear for sure - the 3.8/15 just got lowered to 1300. That's a pretty awesome outfit for not a lot of cash.

I guess he's hedging his bets. If someone just wants a motor he sells it and then changes the listing(s) where he's packaged in that motor with a SIB to just SIB...

Only things he's sold recently are Pro-AM pumps and an old Renault... pretty much all positive feedback, he must be doing a new line in SIBs and outboards

Just a little update to this, I got in touch with the guy in Bristol, paid him his asking price (of 20.00 and for me to collect) via Paypal on the 1st March - after he pressed me for rapid payment - only to be informed the next day that his Dad had sold it. I was refunded so no drama

I bought it hoping it would fit my 3.2 Honwave as the existing bag is sounding like a pair of comedy ripping trousers each time it's used. If anyone knows of or spots a good bag for sale...
