SIB to Anacapa

So I'll finally be getting my SIB (an FC530, 17ft, aluminium floor, 65hp etec) down to Southern California and would eventually like to take it to Anacapa, in the Chanel Islands. Just wondering if anybody has done this trip or something similar and if they have is any advice. Other than having all the gear eg. VHF radio etc. , and getting a good weather briefing, light winds, small swell. Is this something that is okay to attempt in this type of boat? I read somewhere on the forum that someone often went to Catalina. Anacapa is only about 12miles off the coast so.. Any info or advice would be great.
Thanks

bigtalljv would be your best reference. He's done the trip. I've done it too but only as a passenger in my friends H733 rib.

As far as Catalina goes, I've done that trip many times in both my 7m Willard (sold) and 5.4m Avon. Pick your days but that doesn't always help - came home in a small craft advisory in the Avon last August.

It's a little rougher up north so wait until Jason chimes in.

As I recall, Anacapa is about 10 miles from the harbor in Ventura. Certainly doable.

Make sure you pick your day (especially for the first couple of trips), and allot enough time to beat back into port should the water conditions get less pretty.
