On a side note, SIB'ing around the Greek islands would be fab. I bet you'll have an ace time. We're soon to be off to the far end of Cornwall with ours. Not quite the Med but we're still really looking forward to it.

Have fun / stay safe!!

I considered renting but by the fourth day I would have spent more than I did buying the boat. With all fairness, I'd probably be renting something bigger/faster but I don't need that. This is just to keep my son and I busy while the wife enjoys the beach.

I don't doubt our appetite for boating will grow and soon enough we may upgrade. Who knows, may even start using here in the uk.

we usually rent a boat when in kassiopi on the north east of corfu the thing there is after about 3.00 in the afternoon the winds pick up quite a lot we have motored down to agni beach for lunch on flat glassy water then 2 hours later battled our way back through quite choppy head seas .make sure where your planning taking your little boy out in a small inflatable doesn't have the same peculiar weather characteristics

Eurotunnel to France (hate the ferry lol) then up into Belgium and towards Brussels. Depending on traffic sometimes I cut across a small corner of Holland and then into Germany by Cologne. Its then pretty much a day to drive across Germany and out by Passau towards Austria. Then across to Vienna and then into Hungary and towards Budapest. From there we head towards Romania. We'll be stopping a few days to visit my in-laws in Sighetu Marmatiei and then head off together down to Bulgaria then a few more hours and we're in Greece. My in-laws have been going to Thasos every year for about 15 years. This will be the second time we're going with them and the kids really love it.

It sounds like a mission but if you enjoy driving its not too bad. It is shorter by about 200 miles to go down through Serbia but there are a few countries there which are not part of the EU so would incur extra costs with regard to car insurance, travel insurance and just general headache should you break down or have an accident, not to mention mobile phone roaming costs etc. Going via Romania & Bulgaria we never leave the EU.
