Short and long rig, Bombard Aerotec 420/380

Hi all

What's up with tall and short rig engines, is this depending on how deep the hull is?

If not, is there a way to modify the Aerotec 420 to take a short rig engine?

I got a bit worried when I realized the 420 is long rig and the 380 is short. In case I'm not happy with the 420, it would be sad to have to get another engine too (I'm going to get some 15hp or something) if I get rid of it and buy a 380 instead.
