RNLI y class inflatable

Hi guys.

I have bought, although I wont actually be getting it for a couple of weeks, an ex RNLI Y class inflatable, the little 3m one.

Aside from the short wiki entry, I can find nothing about them on the www. Does anyone have any experience or opinions of them, I have a 15 Johnson kicking about which will be ideal for it, and am hoping it will be ideal for sticking in the back of the van for fun days out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_class_lifeboat

Thanks in advance

The RNLI use one on the Broads; it lives on the roof of their rapid responce truck and is launched all over the place. They normally have two crew on board but it looks a little cramped. They use a 15hp 2-stroke mariner which I understand pushes it along quite nicely.

Picked the wee boat up through the week there, can't wait to get her out for a trial run, I would have went today, but it's howling a gale, and my lifejackets are a 2 hour round trip away....

Looks like a strong boat, built to last.
If your fussy, tubes could do with a bit of a clean-up, otherwise it's looking good.

Seems to be in good enough order mate, what would be the best to clean it with?

Also, how do I tell if the tubes are Hypalon or PVC?

Know what you mean mate, I had to move the bike to make room for the boat!

Maybe now the missus will realise that the bike didn't actually take up *all* that much room after all!

The tubes will be hypalon - basically it is an Avon inflatable, suitably strengthened up. Enjoy!

Cheers

If it comes to the worst you could always stick some more orange patches on it - will look like new then!!!

That's no dog, its a rodent - a terrorist rodent at that. Probably part of the WWTRN (worldwide terrorist rodent network).
