My wife's parents live in Norwich, so we will be taking her little SIB with us when we go up in the Summer.

I've no idea where to launch yet, so will also be watching this thread with interest.

Blakeney, Morston. Both very tide dependent. Both with unmarked shallows, but great fun. Just talk to any local boatowner there, or look up the seal trip times. Basically, you can leave Blakeney on any tide over, say, 7.8, about an hour before hw, and come back about the same after.

Also Trimingham and Runton, where you can launch directly unto the sea. I'm afraid I don't know any details though.

stopping here Holiday Park Norfolk - Caravan & Camping Holidays, North Norfolk Coast which is in runton .... it is an rnli beach though so no launching though i think there is another slip further up

We are in Cromer too for the Jubilee.

I've planned a trip to Wroxham for some calmer waters on the Broads.
The tide goes in and out a looooong way at East and West Runton.

I'm considering Sea Palling for some sibbing fun but need to phone to see if they can tractor trailer carry my gear across the sands.

sea palling looks pretty ace and not too far away either.. not sure if it`s an rnli patrolled beach ?? though it`s popular with jet ski`s so there must be an area

we went cromer a few years ago and stopped in runton the beaches were ace with a blue sea too lol

what and where do you plan on launching in wroxham as this part of the country is fairly new to us ?

I was thinking about poodling along the broads for a bit as well, I guess there's a speed limit though, anyone know exactly what and where ish ?

Riverside park Wroxham has a launching platform for small craft - Its not a slipway more of a large jetty.
A weeks licence is £22 (no day licences available). These are available online or from the tourist office in Wroxham.
Its 5mph max. As far as I can find out, any faster is only for waterskiing with a permit.

Speed limits typically vary between 4mph and 6mph with a few at 3mph and are signposted just like the roads - the only exception is Breydon Water near Great Yarmouth where there is no speed limit. Other than speed I wouldn't say Breydon or the area around Great Yarmouth have much to offer.

There are a number of little slipways dotted about that are ideal for a SIB - for example Thurne or Wroxham Broad:

Hey Great Yarmouth is good either launch from slipway in harbour or on the beach (north of the pier) plus you have the wind farm and scroby to explore (scroby is a sand bank about 1.5nm off Yarmouth home to many seals

Vale Road in Mundesley will take you straight onto the beach which is not lifeguarded. Good launch spot for sib's with vehicle access and never any swimmers. There is a free car park just off the beach.

Vale road looks interesting - Looks to be a boat in the sea on Google Earth.

yes mundesley does look very interesting...i think gt yarmouth may be a bit far esp when you have to drive past other beaches.... wroxam could be could for a run too, i had no idea the broads were so big ! the only question is only 3 days which
one to do !!?
yes 2 kids 9 and 2 and wifey of course ..... were gonna need a bigger boat lol

We are up for the week. So 2 days on on the Broads.
Not sure about the sea though - its always looked a bit rough in previous years but this is the first year with a boat.
I'd be more open to going on the sea if there was another sib around.
