Nice looking package. Looks like a Zodiac FC530 (rigid floor/Futura speed tubes) from the Mil/Pro range, Blue Sea battery isolator, Icom M411, etc.

Interesting, I have never seen a console like that on a tiller SIB. Pretty cool.

My friend that is a pro at plastics, showed me many tricks of the trade as we built my Mini-Me tower to that one. Starting with a CAD drawing from my idea, taking that to a CNC machine, followed by a lot of hours getting it routed and glued. Then I spent many more hours finishing putting it together. I only have a Odyssey PC925 AGM battery not two batteries, but don't see the need for duals, as I have pull start (I converted mine to electric start). The battery is quickly disconnected with an Anderson Connector. There are 4 connections total, in order to remove the console from the boat (12 volt battery leads, running light/bilge pump connector, VHF antenna, and the Sonar lead). My goals are probably a lot different then the boat shown above. I wanted to be able to remove everything possible from the boat in less than two minutes (For beach recovery on wheels, so light weight is needed). Hence the handle on my electronics console to be able to carry it up the beach easily (It weighs 36 lbs). Plus mine is a cheap beater boat for fun, and floor space is for scuba tanks. I also wanted someone sitting across from me to be able to navigate and watch the contours for locating dive sites (With lots of fish to look at hopefully), so my sonar/chartplotter swivels. I have a piece of HDPE for building another mounting base, but need to find the time to do so. Then the orange Save-A-Boat-Dive kit will be securely mounted in case of flipping the boat.

My boat is an old piece of junk compared to the boat above, but it does get us out on the water. We went for a hike at Angel Island this afternoon in the middle of the San Francisco Bay.

Here is the third console I have ever seen on a SIB, and all within a day!

From this thread.

Gotta add another one just spotted, as consoles in SIB's are so rare.

Peter - How is your console mounted to the aluminum floor?

Both my tool box and my "electronics tower" (as I call it) mount with a piece of HDPE that they slide into. The HDPE is bolted thru the floor. The floor edge is quickly knocked off with a block of wood and a hammer. Since strength is only so important, I just used a couple of scraps of HDPE under the deck as it is easy to drill and tap. Plus the length and widths were ready to go.

Peter_C,

Thanks for posting up the pics of your console mount. That is a very interesting application. I have saved that pic in my idea file. I have some equipment I will be carrying and I really like the quick release concept.

I think the easy access hollow zodiac floors are one of the best things about my Futura! Unlike your set up I'm not breaking down my boat to beach launch like you do. Using the hollow floor sections for backing plates that key into the side rails (very strong and secure) has made it possible for me to have a much sturdier set up where my console, gas tank, battery, seats and my cross plate mounted ski pole all are ultimately attached this way. I had too much play and wear in the track mounted bench supports.

I'm not sure my hybrid bench top console counts as a true console set up, but I'll attach a pic anyways. It sure was nice to get the gas tank, battery and console all occupying the same floor space. Room to move about is always at a premium.

Sure wish I could get the kind of fit and finish in my projects that you display in your console work.

Here is another one going in a CRRC sib. I'll start a new thread when I get it in the boat.

Cheers

have a center counsol on mine and it is handy, this year the fuel and battery floor board is getting moved to the front and going to spoil myself with a fish finder.

Gotta add this console for a tiller SIB that I just spotted in the for sale section.

This looks like a pretty nice setup to me. Although larger it is funny how similar it is to mine.

I believe that is a Mark IV HD, the non-military, commercial brother of the FC 530.

She's a beaut!

That console looks great. I like the idea of a handle to carry it around although I cant for the life of me figure out why they left the mounting bolts so long??
