Hi Stig. Great news about the Bombard being rated to 25hp,I didn't know that. If you can find one within budget, it would be a sound option.

I am looking to buy my first SIB to carry two adults and two young kids (and occasionally just four adults) around the sheltered waters of the scottish west coast. I have just aquired a Yamaha 25 2 stroke (autolube 47kgs) and am looking for a boat to match.

I have narrowed my choices to a 3.5 - 3.8m SIB and like the look of the Honwave T35 al'floor. The specs say max 20hp. My 25hp is within the weight range but slighty overpowered. Does this matter?

I will want to occasionally get four adults on the plane. Do you think this boat is a wise choice for my needs? They are available for 800 new. Does anyone know of any special offers for any less? Is there a comparable boat that's better value? Has anyone got a used one they want to sell?

Thanks in advance.

Chris
If you over power a boat you risk the insurance company not paying out in the event of an accident. Since you are worried about overpowering for safety reasons then you will be worried about overpowering for insurance reasons. Ask an insurance company if they will insure you and how much it will cost. If they won't, buy a boat that suits the engine like a T40... no mine isn't for sale
