New boat

Hi all!

Jut to drop a quick introduction o myself! I've just just bought myself my first boat- an Avon Rover 340 and looking forward to getting out on the water! I'm hoping the bank is kind to me and will help me with the finances on an outboard this week so I can get a couple of trips on the water before winter hits!

welcome to RIBnet

where abouts are you looking to do your boating, there were a few sibs out around that size on the Menai over the w'end, but I think they were the fire rescue crews doing some training around menai bridge

Thanks!

I'm based in Manchester so just looking for some lakes. I'm going to get a Bridgewater canal licence as I pretty much back onto it, that way I can do some slow speed testing and work out of I need to do anything else to the boat before I take it further away from shore and then see where I can get!
I volunteer with the Sea Cadets so I'm hopefully going to be able to grab some lakes to use through that!

sounds like a plan to me! if you're looking to go a bit further afield I can reccomend Loch Lomond for your sib, there's loads to see n do up there, we've been going back on n off for over 30 years n still not seen it all

Oh I'm looking for any body of water I can float and use! Although with this weather I may get some use out of her sooner than expected!

Great first boat Jack. I've been using a 3.1 Rover for this summer and really liked its classic looks. It was my intention to upgrade slightly to a 3.4 Avon but as so often happens with boats when looking I was tempted by something else.

Got any pics?

I'm just putting the finishing touches to mine, just got the launch wheel brackets to lower as they were set too high for the wheels to be left on in the up position and the outboard to fit.
Is yours with or without the console

My first RIB was also a Rover 340 and we were very happy with it. Even managed to get over to the Isle of Wight when weather permitted, though it would be a long haul from Manchester

Enjoy!

Hi mate, I'm also from Mcr. Well, Saddleworth North Mcr. Often go to the river Ouse in York for testing or if the weather is nice. Other than that I'll be going to Wales for fishing next year! Windermere is also on my list, plenty of places to stop and have a beer!

Great idea mate! Only trouble is the speed limit on Windermere!

Speed limits everywhere apart from sea! Although a sib can plane at the 10mph limit. Blasting around everywhere isn't always necessary if the weather is nice! The lochs in Scotland are an exception, Lomand is the closest to us, 4 hours ish. No speed limit, good fishing and its massive!
