need to convince wife about ribs vs regular boats

Hey folks,

Need to arm myself with bunch of pros and cons arguments for owning a rib as opposed to a "regular" boat. I think the community here can give a good list of reasons beyond what google supplies.

2. Tube wearing out

3= ease of launchin
4=ease of transportation
5=wont sink
6=Any weather operation

2. Tube wearing out (tubes dont wear out) can last for 25+
3. can be more expensive to buy
4. you will like it too much so you will ditch the bi--ch and go out wid ya mates wavejumping n shit

Takeing her to visit your Local RNLI Station....they talk RIB's up Pretty well

Failing that.... Grow Some!.... and TELL HER what your Buying!

3 - she aint ever going to launch it
4 - and you'll be doing all the transporting
5 - start talking about sinking and she's off to the shopping centre with your boat money

Hard boat cons
1 - do you really need a loo
2 - or a means of making a cuppa, thermos is fine
3 - all those nice comfy seats will need cleaning
4 - they must be cheaper for a reason
5 - You need fenders which are really, really expensive and look untidy

Take here out in the rough stuff with a RIB, than You don't need to convince anything after that. She'l stop boating any you can choose to use what ever boat You like.....alone...

Buying a hard boat will turn you into a Penisaurus

you going to trailer it so RIBs tend to be lighter that an equivalent sized hard boat. It's cheaper to buy a little more expensive boat if you don't have to buy a truck to pull it. RIBs' have greater person carrying capacity vs hard boat. Hard boats usually have more deck space. Rides can be similar, a deep vee RIB and equivalent deep vee hard boat will ride similar. Tube maintenance can be an issue, I had a new hypalon boat for 12 years and it never leaked.

I guess it depends what you want to do with your boat.. and how much you have to spend.

If I had lots of money.. I would have a hardshell .. and a RIB ..and a SIB .. so the days choice was mood dependant

Each and every one has its pros and cons

I probably would have the money too.. if I had not got married

That is a big con for the wifie ..she has two pros that I can think of though ..and I have just eaten dinner

Oddly, I get that. Many (many) moons ago, c.1988, I recall seeing a photo taken from an Aer Arran plane of an an Arun Class ALB in Galway Bay. She was catching air on the waves/swell on the way into Galway from the Aran Islands. A classic photo that won an award that year.
