My New Cat Sib!

Just picked this up - only 300 quid! its a brand new never seen the wet stuff zapcat clone from a local company (hartpool marine), which recently went bust due to the recession and had to shift the left over stock. I was previously using an old avon 340 hypalon sib from 1979 which was great, but its performance in any sort of chop left a lot to be desired.

Now all I need is an engine. Im hoping to find a nice 30 to 40hp 2 stroke - but in the meantime I'll just try this out with the 15hp from the old avon. It supposedly takes 50hp - but i'm not feeling that suicidal!

Any thoughts? one thing im not sure about is the pressure Ill need to put in the hijackers? I have a bravo 12 HP so should only take a few seconds to inflate

Congratulations, it looks like you'll have a blast! You will probably be surprised by how well it goes with just a 15 hp & 1 person. The recommended pressures for typical PVC thundercat/zapcats are approximately 3.2psi for the main sponsons, and about 9 psi for the hijackers.

Ok i contacted Joe Mearns (old owner of hartpool marine), he says that his new business that may be able to source these boats can be found at www.mearnsmarine.com , the site has an email facility under 'contact us'.... tel no. 02032390359.

I hope this helps.
Will post a few pics of the boat on the water asap!
