ML Lifeguard

Hi Everyone
Newbie here, I have just bought a 3.4m Lifeguard Inflatable and was trying to find out some more info about them.
Its got a mariner 40hp outboard with it too, Is this ok for this sib or should i be looking for a smaller outboard?

RIBase
3.4 with a 40 is going to be fun I had a 3.83 with a 25 and that was lively, don't know the ML Lifeguard boats though.

Biggest problem will by moving it around on your own, unless it's trailed?

Be better if you posted a photo , a couple of members have them but there's a few different types& models from leisure to commercial use .

Originally they were a good quality boat made at Ruthin in Wales but seem to have been taken over by other various company's , think they are now part of Beufort rescue equipment group at Birkenhead.
A lot of the earlier 1970 s boats were for leisure use yacht tenders ect were yellow in colour but think they only do commercial rescue/ tender /work boats for small tugs & ships and that are orange in colour usually with X retroreflective markings on the tubes/ sponsons.
Wouldn't like to make s comment on engine size but as treerat says it could be a bit lively .

Thanks for the replies guys.
I will try to put a photo on later.
Yes it is orange with all the retoflective tape on it.
Its also on a trailer. It has a console and seat fitted but i dont know if im keeping it fitted yet.
I was thinking the same regarding the size of the engine. Does anyone know what these would originally have been fitted with?

Hi it's not a d class RNLI inflatable is it? They have a standard 40hp. The lifeguard beach rescue craft usually have a 30hp and are 3.8m. I've looked at many on the beaches.

Just to add to this if it's a 2 stroke it could be a 40hp. The latest ones are 30hp mariner 4 strokes.

OOOH loverly i have a 4m one and it can take a 40hp but alass i only have a 10hp on it,fantastic sibs built like tanks ,fishing off it is brill mine was made in 1984 and still going strong, they were made for MOB sibs for tugs, not sure i would have the steering console as close up to the bow tho? the alloy floor is superb and i have mine on a trailer dam heavy to drag up the beach with out a dumper, lol.
